Does anyone have any experience w/ Timber Wolf knives? I know they're a budget brand. However, they do seem to make some nice, full tang, large choppers, both stainless steel and high carbon steel. They make the Heart of Darkness Bowie in 1055 carbon steel, with a flat grind, a full tang, no handguard, and a nice contoured handle. My understanding from watching videos, is that their leather sheaths are pretty nice. They also make the the Timber Wolf US 139 Survivor Knife (a large Bowie), with a full tang, and small handguard, and forged high carbon steel (the steel type isn't mentioned). I'm not really a knife snob. If it works well, I don't really care who makes it. Their leather sheath straps swivel to the non blade side. I saw a guy destroy a cinder block with the spine of the TW US 139 Survivor Knife. There was zero damage to the blade.

I won't recommend that brand. They are built cheap and thus overbuilt to make up to that. However, despite being heavy and over built, the cheap material will get fatigue much faster and it could become a hazard at an unexpected moment. Even the leather sheath, the leather surface is easy to give good feel with all kind of dye and coating finish, but the durability needs to be tested. Breaking a cinder block with the spine is really nothing impressive. Anything moderately tough and hard can do that.

It is all about first impression rather than actual long term use.

I have so many large chopping blades. I really don't need anymore, especially high carbon steel blades. I guess I have a retail therapy problem. It's hard for me to resist a large chopper! I appreciate your advice.
