I need a new pair of boots bad, but I hate most of them. I just don't like heavy soles or tall heels, and want something that's closer to a minimalist type boot. I got to try a pair of the chukka's on the other day at Gander Mt., and really liked the fit. Just wondering if anyone has any experience with them. How well do they hold up? Are they a true boot, or more of a casual dress sort of thing?

I have a pair of Clarks Desert Boots in Oakwood Suede. It has a crepe sole which I like. Its pretty light and looks sweet. For $70ish can't really go wrong with a classic.

Today I'm wearing Clark's Hillside boots, which are chukka style with four lace holes. Chukka boots are usually comfortable, not great for hiking, but a good choice if you want ankle-high shoes that are quick to take off and put on (at the airport, for example) and look casual but not construction site.

I have two pairs of Timberland Earthkeepers, bucks and Chelsea boots. They are comfortable and they seem to be well-made, but I bought them just before it started snowing here and I've only worn them a few days.

Thanks guys. I ended up buying a pair of Wolverine hiking boots from a local store. They are fairly light, and don't have a huge heel or sole. So far I'm liking them.
