OK-- it looks awesome, but has anyone read a review of this knife recently? OR better than that; tell me what you all think of this knife. I would like to attach it to my ride-in-the-truck first aid/survival pack. I currently have the SOG Seal-Pup and it's okay, but I am interested in this great looking knife/system by Timberline. Please advise.

I have the Aviator, it has some very strong points:
  • Very comfortable handle which allows multiple grip positions and extremely accurate blade control
  • Good steel and decent edge retention
  • High corrosion resistance if you would choose Ti-Ni coated version
  • Versatile Kydex sheath allows multi-position carry
  • Light weight and compact size
Here I tried to mention only the options important to survival use.
The only weak point is chisel ground tanto blade. I would like much more if it would have normal clip point blade with V-grind.
But it is my preference only.

Hello!

Had an Aviator which i traded, loved the looks and it felt very comfortable and very sharp out of the box.

So, why didn't i like it?
1. Too light, didn't find the balance anywhere, i'd prefer slight bladeheavy, just slight!
2. The blade is chiselground but the edge is a conventional grind, strange!
3. The sheath sucked! the person i traded it with had one already and he got a different/better sheath system.
My sheath didn't fit very well and the strap that was designed to attach to the sheath to allow belt carry didn't work as supposed.
For the money i think it shouldn't be like that.

I got a BM Nimravus last summer and just love it! maybe you should try it out?? or any of the Fällkniven knives?

Just my 0.98 cents

David..
For a First Aid/Rescue Field Knife which is easy to carry/conceal you may want to consider the Fallkniven F1 or Busse #3 or #5.
These are far superior and would most likely suit your needs better..

I own Aviator, as well as the Seal Pup. IMHO, I'd stick with the SOG. While I find the Aviator visually appealing, maybe even more so than the SOG, I don't really like the sheath, and I prefer my chiselground blades to be zero ground, i.e., no secondary bevel, as are Phill Hartsfield's blades.
