Has anyone bought or handled the new Timberline Vallotton-Ochs Kickstart knife? If so, post a pic and/or give your impressions.

I'd like to hear about it too. The Kickstart has been out for about a year now and the only place that carries it is the Knifecenter. It looks interesting. I'd like to see one with a satin finished blade.

There have been some on Ebay and I was wondering about them too-- they look very Carson/M16-ish in the photos.

I bid on a Timberlite that was really cheap-- are they any good? Appearance-wise they remind of Bucklite or Gerber LST.

I believe that the March "Tactical Knives" mag has an article about them. They were pretty complimentary.

I just received mine today. The assisted opening is by far the fastest and hardest opening. I have all the ZT folders, a few SOG's, kershaws and the avalanche being my hardest opening till I got this knife. The blade is Aus - 8 drop point and comes quite sharp from the factory. Blade thickness is also quite substantial giving it good strength. It also has whats called a double action feature where you can disable the a/o by a switch on the handle. With a/o disabled the knife opens smooth and equally fast with a flick of the thumb stud. The handle is zytel and the knife is a liner lock. The lockup of the liner is quite good and sturdy. I have the partially serrated version and the blade comes coated black. Overall the knife is a good size for edc at 4 5/8 closed. Price was $55 and is good value for what you get. I definitely recommend this if you are looking for an alternative to a mid/high end a/o kershaw.
