oh yea the aviator is next

I bought an Aviator at the Sportmansguide about a year ago. Although it was a factory second , I can't find anything wrong with it. It's a nice little knife and I sometimes carry it instead of a folder. Ironically SG had it listed as a Camillus second, maybe they make the blades?

I'm not sure if I would pay 100.00 for one but I got mine for 30.00.

Timberline has a pretty limited selection of knives (compared to the big manufacturers anyway) and they seem to keep their knives in production for a long, long time. Chris Reeve does the same thing, but CRK makes absolutely top-of-the-line products. A normal production company needs to introduce new models frequently, or at least tweak the existing models, to keep people interested. How many times can you talk about the Wortac or Zambezi? I'm not criticising Timberline's products, just my guess about why they don't get talked about very much.

I picked up an Envoy not that long ago on a clearout. Wouldn't have noticed it otherwise. Agreed - it's a surprisingly good knife for the money.

I have some of the old Timberlite knives by Timberline.

I'd love to get one of the SpecWar knives as well, but the usual selling prices are out of my league.

I do have one of the Camillus/Timberline "Pilont Survival Knife" that was $30 at SG. Here's a topic in the Review forum where the Aviator/SpecWar/Pilot Survival Knife is discussed:
