I have been thinking about getting this knife to take with me to Iraq to be my day to day use knife and I'd just like to know if any of you have used this knife or have an option about what type of knife I should get.

I don't think that a pistol grip handle is a good choice for a utility knife. It is a good choice for thrusting in combat and clumsy for fine work. Folding knives aren't long enough to work well for thrusting in combat so I think this is a bad choice.

I suggest something like a Benchmade 10300 Monochrome. It is a sleek design that is easy to carry. It is all steel for strength. The N690 alloy takes a great edge and holds it longer than most alloys. It is around $35.00 on the web.

PS. These open best if you flick the opening stud with your thumb rather than push it open slowly. You can also just use a two-handed opening procedure.

I have one and I like it a lot.
A couple things though:
1) It's heavy!!! It's got a large bolster that really adds weight.
2) It's kind of tough to close, the catch on the linerlock is very small.
.
and I like it for any kind of work, the forward swept design makes it more natural to use. Overall, it's a good value for the money.
I have yet to be disappointed with a Lightfoot design.

if ya want a knife like that i would get a spyderco ayoob its lots better than a timberline anything imho, one for sale in the for sale section for like $60.........

Timberline REALLY does produce some good quality knives.
Before decide, I recommend handling one.

i would look @ a ayoob too then if i was looking for a knife like that, i guess timberline is ok, i just think the lockback is a better choice in that style of knife imho, imho the timberline fixed blades are ok, the folders i have never been that impressed with though.

Yup, definitely handle it before you buy it.
I've heard several accounts of unsafe liner locks on this Timberline model - that's why I won't buy a Pistol Grip until I get the chance to examine its lock before I purchase it.
