Hi all, I am new to the forum and need some help. I have a Timberline Specwar that a friend gave to me 25 years or so ago. I am trying to sharpen and it is like sharpening a piece of glass. The steel is so hard that it has literally polished my small sharpening stone. I have tried that as well as leather strop and (shame on me) some emery cloth on a flat board that I have used for surfacing engine blocks when replacing head gaskets. Destroyed as well. I have managed to get it fairly sharp after many hours. How in the world can I get it really sharp?

Please help. Thank you!

Diamond or CBN stones, on super a small budget, I have had good results with automotive sandpaper glued to good smooth boards (start low and work up to what ever grit you want). Honestly I use a Sharp-maker now a days for everything lol.
