What is everyones thoughts on the spydie /timberline collaboration?? The Special Service knife?

I am going to post this in the spydie forums as well.

I don't like tantos but other than that fit and finish on all I have seen are typical of Spyderco.

A Timberline/Spyderco collaboration? Sounds cool, but I think I´m missing something. Any details?

I dunno when it was done but it is a tanto point with the reversible left or right spydie carrying clip. It is an SS handle with aus-8 steel in the blade.

What I wanted to know is if anyone has handled it, own it or palyed with one.
I was given some info that a dealer was selling one dirt cheap at about $55. Regular price is about three times that I think.

I have one. It has the same fit and finish as Spyderco's knives, but the hole... :D . A square hole...

I also recently bought one, very nice, good steel and looks great. I only wish it wasnt a tip up blade or a lockback, but those are minor personal discrepencies. I would definitely reccommend it for $55, thats a great deal.....GET IT!!

is that in circulation yet? i can't believe spyderco would make something like that! i'm so surprised! maybe when i handle it i'd feel better, but seriously...!! a square hole... yikes

just a little dissappointed is all

actually, i think it looks pretty nice. Its something different and unique. Before any more comment, would like to handle one first.

I don't like it. The hole looks too weird for me. The whole knife just looks a little awkward.

Just my opinion.

I dont think there is a Timberline/Spydie collaboration, it just striking like a Spydie, although I could be wrong. I got mine of of the Mac Tools truck for $100. The square/diamond thumb hole is just a bit harsh, but I really like this knife. The slim all polished handle is very nice. Feels comfortable in hand and in pocket.

It really is a Spyderco collaboration. It is called the Special Service folder. See here:

hmm intresting. They pateneted the dimaond but forgot about the oval?I guess the oval somehow escaped notice?

This is a tough decison. An all metal hand knife with aus-8 with the same fit and finish as a spydie for only $55 bucks? I haven't been albe to make up my mind since starting this post til now. Maybe after my vacation I will think with more clarity

Thanks. I forgot about that thread. That was'nt too long ago either.
