Folks...

It seems to me that I remember seeing a hollow handled survival knife made by Timberline knives...waaaaaay back in the eighties. I believe I saw it in a US Calvary catalog. Has anyone ever seen one of these bad boys? I remember the photo alright...but never have I seen one in person. As I recall...it was a really nice looking example of the hollow handled "Genre". As impractical as some would say they are, I have an affection for the hollow handled survival knives. I personally have a Crain LS1...CR Project II...and am awaiting a custom number from Randall King (going on year two now).

If anyone has a photo or any info on these knives (the Timberlines that is)...I would be interested in seing it.

Thahnks all.

Those are some great knives you have on order bpman.

Moving this to the General Blade Discussion forum since the question is on the Timberline. There should be a better chance of getting an answer there.

Gus, just curious, why would this post be moved? The 1980s Timberline knives that bpman is talking about were handmade by Vaughn Neeley and Bill Sanders. A totally different breed than todays Timberlines. There is such a fine line between custom and handmade that I get confused where to post sometimes. Thanks, Tom

The SA Hollow Handle Survival modles came in 7 1/2" and 6 3/8".

The 6 3/8" version is rarer because only 100 were made.

I know of a web site that 5 Timberlines can be seen on (in about 24 hours) but decorum prohibits me from mentioning it here.

Also, Gus I agree with TAH. Why are you kicking a custom knife thread into the general population?

Now that you know it's the custom version I would suggest you move it back.

My bad guys and I apologize.
I will get a super to move it back.
Sorry it took me so long to get back to this thread.
