I picked up an old Timberline survival knife at a gun show recently, and I am having a hard time finding info on it. I tried Timberline web page, as well as Gatco, but had no luck. Any suggestions?

Don't know if this will help. I found a great article on Timberline in the August 1987 Blade magazine. If you e-mail me your address, I will be happy to photocopy the article and send you a copy. Very interesting article.

The Timberline Factory, is in no way associated with the Timberline custom knives.

Vaughn Neely was for a time the guy in charge during the change over, but to my knowledge he no longer has any thing to do with the current version of Timberline.

The guy who made you knife is Bill Sanders (he along with Vaughn and 3rd member (who's name slips my mind right now, but has since died in a hunting accident some years ago).

Bill is in Knives 2000.

That knife was always one of my favorite knives. Matter of fact when I went through SERE training with the 1st Special Forces Group in Korea, I took that as my back up knife.

Hope this helps.

Hello,

LES his name was Jim Hardenbrook. and was the actuall beginner of Timberline knives,
Vaughn and Bill sanders worked along with him, until his death in the hunting accident you reffered to. I worked at Timberline in Mancos Colorado after Vaughn Neeley had sold timberline to Bob Hatting. Those Navaho Brothers that i worked there with called the YAZZE brothers were some of the Best Freehand Blade grinders i had ever seen.
