I have the Timberline Lightfoot Mini-Pitbull and like it quit a lot. There is a long story that goes with this little knife but that's not what you asked about.

Timberline makes the knives for Kelly Wardon (a well known martial arts and edged weapon instructor). I'm sure Kelly would not have chosen a company that puts out junk. The Vallatton is similar to a number of other medium priced, mass produced knives that are on the market. Cold Steel Voyager, Emerson Hard Ware, and certain Spyderco knives (usually the better steel) come to mind. They all use reasonable steel (AUS-8A for your knife, an above average steel) with a riveted Zytel or FRN handle (that may be the same material). Your knife has Kraton inserts, which is a nice touch and will help your grip if you are dressing out a kill with it. Of all of them I mentioned, the Vallotton is the only one with a liner lock. All the others are lockbacks, which is a stronger lock than a liner. It looks to be a nice looking knife and if it locks up tightly, the fit and finish is reasonable, and (the most important part) you like it, I'm sure it will provide you with years of reliable service. Good luck with it.

Regards,
Gary

I have the Timberline large Worden.

I think it's a great knife for the money, and for some reason it just doesn't get the "airplay" of many other similarly priced knives.

If the Valloton is anything like the Worden in quality, you've got an excellent knife there IMO, definitely a "Best Value".

Why no hype on them? I got spyd's, kershaw, camillus, crkt etc, etc. and they are talked of everywhere. But I really like my Timb it just feels alright.

I've had the Valloton custom version and I've had the Timberline version and in my opinion, the Timberline version was actually nicer than the full custom!

I have no idea!
To me, one of the great mysteries of the world of production knives.

I had the auto versions of both. The Timberline had better fit and finish, fired better and easier and the the lock was better. I dumped the custom version soon after I got it and kept the Timberline for quite awhile...
