HT a batch of 52100 and 8670 today. while I was HT the first batch of 52100 my toaster oven died. Wife would not let me use her oven so I finished all the knives and waited till my HT oven dropped to 400 and used it to temper. So I guess the wait was a couple of hours before the tempering started. I know you should temper as soon as you can but would a wait of a couple of hours detrimental to the blade. It was nice using the oven to temper. Plenty of room and the oven held temperature way better then the toasters.
thanks

You will be fine. Those steels don't have high RA and aren't likely to self destruct pre-temper. It is best to do the temper as soon as possible, but in your case, that was after the oven dropped to 400°.
