Time for a bigger spyderco

After a hairy situation at work last night my delicas are not looking as comforting as they once did. I think it's time for a bigger tip up spyderco, with a plain edge, and lightweight so no stainless handles. Basically a scaled up Delica. Not too huge so as to be uncomfortable to carry or slow to deploy, just something a bit larger. Then my delica will go to being a waistband knife. I'm not familiar with the whole spyderco line and there are no knife shops around to shop at.

Hi, you might want to check out my site (also see signature). There you can see the Endura and all other Spyderco models, in relative sizes next to each other, or in real size on your screen (link ). You can also check Paul's site where there's a link to compare several models to each other.
Good luck in your search,
Ted

What part of OH are you in? I know the NE sucks but there are a couple of decent places that you may not know of between Cleveland and Columbus I can direct you.

Any way, I would suggest checking out the Spyderco Persian. It's an all around great knife and I have zero complaints about mine.

If you will consider other brands than Spyderco there are a ton of options depending on what you want to spend. Don't overlook the Benchmade Axis locks like the Griptillian, light weigth and a rock solid locking system.

I'm also from Ohio. Cuyahoga Falls. cpirtle I bet I'm about a 7 minute drive from you :D

I only know of 2 places for knives and 1 doesn't sell Spyderco. CUTTERS CORNER (in Great Northern Mall) and Pro Gun in Cuyahoga Falls.

What other ones do you know of in NE Ohio?

Cheers to all,
David

FOM, yep, I'm over by the S-K Airport so you may be even closer than 7 minutes!

Kame's Sporting Goods in N Canton used to be excellent but they've cut back, now they're above average.

Another good place is Mickey's Army & Navy in Warren. Lot's of Spyderco and SOG, among others. Don't remember Benchmade being there though.

Probably the best is Fin Feather & Fur at the Ashland exit of I71 just South of Mansfield. I know it's a hike but they have the best selection of productions and some customs. Rick Hinderer even works there occasionally on weekends.

Are you heading down to the knife show next weekend? It's in Dover and not a bad trip (45 minutes). I may head down on Saturday.

What do you mean by "a hairy situation"? What kind of job is it?

Pizza delivery.

I live near zanesville.

I checked out those very helpful sites and found exactly what I need is one of each.

But an endura will do in the meantime.

What's a good place to buy knives online?

I don't know about laws pertaining to concealed carry there, but I would recommend carrying a pistol as opposed to/in addition to a knife for self defense purposes.

We have a CHL law as of last year, but most of the pizza places I see are "posted".

Oddly enough my pizza consumption has dropped considerably since I don't order from those places any longer ;)

Hey,

Not going to the knife show as I just can't make it. I'm trying to get this other local knife store to carry Spyderco. :)

Good to know we're close. I'm around the Portage Trail area in Cuyahoga Falls :)

Cheers,
David

Trust me, I would carry daily, but I have not yet reached the magical age dictated to us by our privelege providers, so I am not legally allowed to have a CHL (in fact, in OH, I am not even allowed to posess a handgun).

Even if I could, our laws regarding car carry would make legal pizza delivery while carrying impossible.

I don't really care about store policies, it's the whole felon thing. :barf:   :(

there is always nunchaku, they should be legal to carry-and could increase striking distance.(if you learn a bit)

Short version:
Sorry, State law says "NO WEAPONS." In Cali, they list every-in-di-vid-u-al-item like balisong, nunchaku, throw star, etc. In Ohio, law says "weapon" and lets the people decide. The law is "suppose" to be about intent. "Mr Cop, I carry a knife because I intend to open boxes. Oh the nun-chuks! I intend to... look like Bruce Lee:) "

Take a look at what I'm wearing, people. You think anybody wants a roundhouse kick to the face while I'm wearing these bad boys? Forget about it. Last off, my students will learn about self respect. You think anybody thinks I'm a failure because I go home to Starla at night? Forget about it!
