Too many Spydies; too many Kershaws; too many Benchmades; too many Emersons and no SOG knives...yet.

I have been looking at SOG knives for about 4 years now and have been tempted many times, but until today I have never dropped the hammer on one. So, today I will be getting a black blade, digital-camo Aegis and I am looking forward to it. I need a new 'flavor' in my knife collecting and I believe that SOG has a good line-up with diversity and quality. Besides, the SOG forum needs more members. ;)

My girlfriends dad has the aesgis and it is awesome! Extremely smooth, fast opening and has awesome grip.

My girlfriend for our anniversary got me a Sog Twitch XL which is amazing. THe only issue I have is a rattle but besides that I love it.

Good luck with that knife Im sure you will love it. Did you see there is now a Mini-Aegis? I might have to get that as it is legal everywhere.

Well, the Aegis arrived today on time and it exceeded my expectations! The blade shape is just perfect and it came as sharp as any folder I have and sharper than most. The Aegis is real easy to 'tune-up' to get that sweet spot of rapid opening and zero blade play. As you mention, the handle is very comfortable and secure.

The assisted open is very fast and improves through use, while the low ride clip is a thing of beauty. So, now that I have such a positive experience with SOG, I am eye-balling a Vulcan and a Facet...this could get expensive. :D

My next SOG purchase is going to be the Mini Aegis I think. Im really excited to get it.

Glad you enjoy your knife!

welcome APF, SOG catches a bad rep but I do enjoy their assisted knives.

I personally have a flash 2 and digi camo trident

my only complaint is the digi camo trident is part serrated

the aus8 on these blades sharpens up real easy on my sharpmaker too.

I hope SOG will come out with some more original assisted/arc lock designs though and not just mini's

I hope SOG starts using more G-10 and hopefully some CPM steels or perhaps a tool steel here or there. I also hope they address their blade play issues. Every SOG knife I have owned has had blade play. When I would tighten them down they'd be too tight to open and I couldn't ever find a sweet spot that would last more than two openings.

SOG knives originally got me into knife collecting but I haven't bought one in a long time because there are other knife makers out there that use better materials for my money.

If SOG made a Trident with a G-10 handle, an Arc-Lock, VG-10 steel and no cord notch, I would buy five of them.

That black Aegis is a handsome knife for sure!

I just picked up a Vulcan san mai tanto and I couldn't be more pleased. The fit and finish is superb, the mirror like finish on the blade is classy and it is built like the proverbial tank. I think the Vulcan is going to be tough to bump as an edc.:)
