Time for a fun (or informative to me at least) game of which would you choose!

So after a transaction today, I have cash again for a new knife. I posted a thread this very afternoon mentioning my continuing appreciation of the zt300 over the course of my knife hunt. It really is a tremendous and wonderful knife from every time I've held it. All that said, in my shopping around a bit I've seen a few of the 560CFCB are actually still available to my extraordinary surprise. My question to all of you folks out there, if you were going to carry and use which one would you choose? By use I mean this will be your primary EDC knife, it will be used extensively in outdoor activities and ranching, it'll be maintained but babied or protected in no way- I got rid of my last knife because I found myself not using it enough because of blade shape. So to all of you ZT aficionados, which should I get? The 300 has spoken to me for a long time and its tried and true, but the 560cbcf isn't an opportunity that is around forever. Thanks for the help, and either way, I'm ordering this very night so I'm psyched!

CBCF is a fantastic knife, with extraordinary steel. If you like a knife with a steel that wont need touched up every night like s30 can be, then s110 is for you. It holds an edge very very well but is not as corrosion resistant. Its light, yet large and fits well in a pocket without the chance of being lost like many smaller knives. The deep carry clip will keep it buried in your pocket so as not to risk being pulled out or grabbed by a foreign object. If its a tough knife you want, cbcf is the way to go.

0550. One of the best examples of ZT toughness I've seen since the first 030x series. I've used it to open bags of sakrete and it needed nothing more than a few passes on the ultra-fine stones to get the edge back.

P.S. Dave has a great price on the 0550BLK right now.

It would be interesting to see a 0560CFCB put through its paces but in reality would you be ok if something were to happen to such a prized knife? Somehow I doubt the knife replacement program would cover this beauty, or worse yet, would be lost. I'd be more inclined to use the 0300 as a primary work knife and the CFCB as a light user, but thats me :)

With that thick blade stock and good steel, I'd have zero issue using it. I would be very curious about the replacement blade thing. That makes a difference to me, so if anyone has any insight that would certainly make a difference to me.

I would have to agree with SPX the 0550 is one tough knife. No recurve to deal with or bearings to keep clean. Holds an edge and just the right size for everyday use.

If you are planning on really using it around the ranch like you said in your other thread I would probably consider a 30x blem from Kershawguy & use whats left over for the 0560cbcf. This way you don't have to chose & you get both. :D

Haha that is a fair suggestion. I have to confess, about 5 minutes after I started this thread I decided waiting was a bad idea. I decided to get the 0560cbcf. I'll email Kai later and propose the hypothetical "If I break the combo blade, can I get back in the replacement blade deal with just elmax." If they answer in the negative, I'll still carry and use it but be a bit more cautious. If they answer in the affirmative, its definitely my user for everything. My objection to the 560 was always that I didn't care for the machined titanium. This fixes that in a gorgeous and fun package. Thanks for all the quick and helpful responses. That's my favorite thing about this subforum, and actually a big boost to my appreciation of this brand despite only owning 2 of the lower end kershaws, everyone is helpful and responsive. It's definitely appreciated it. Now I'll be panicky and giddy for a few days waiting for my new toy to arrive from kershawguy!

Absolutely will do. There is a lot to like here, and I'm excited to give it a go. I've been trying to do a little research on the corrosion resistance of the s110v (I have a JYD in 14c28n so that one I know).

Congrats on your purchase. Either way was a win. I don't have a 30x series (may change in the future) but I have a couple of 056x's. I take my 0561 to work almost every day & have not had an issue with it.I might not use it the same way you intend to use it (i'm an automotive tech), but it still gets used. I think you could have gone wrong with either choice. In the mean time here is some 056x eye candy while you wait for yours. ;)
