CONTEST IS OVER AND THE WINNER IS MARKKSR
I'm fast closing in on my 5000th post so I figured I better give away something a little special. So I decided on this hand made Barlow by Mervin Masters. Your post number is your entry number for the contest. I'm going to say you have to have at least a dozen post here in the Traditional forum to be eligible to win. If you post more than once in the thread, your first will be the one that counts as your entry. I will let this one run until this Saturday night around 8 o'clock or so. I will pick a number using a random number generator and post the winners name.

I got this one way, way back in twenty and aught seven in a trade from one of our regulars (Vince). Mervin Masters barlow, about 4 and 1/4 inches with some really nice bone, half stops, nice and tight with good snap. I knew nothing about the maker so I posted a question when I got it and it turns out Tony Bose knew a little about him. Tony said, "I knew Mervin Masters, he was an old man I used to see at the Louisville show years ago. He always wore bib overall and would walk around the show peddleing these pocket knives he made. He made them out of files and got the bone from Tommy Shouse which is where I was getting it at the time. He died a long time ago but his knives make him live on."

Good luck, boys and girls,

Rob - a.k.a. "Mister 5000"

I'll enter. I should have the requisite 12 posts in this forum, I think. That bone looks great.

Thanks for the giveaway, there have been quite a few lately.
