I love my remora I truly do and it pains me to say that's it's time for something new.
The reason I want to change up is because while the organization and size is perfect I can't get over the single strap. So what I'm looking for a small two strap pack that is very comfortable for long time walking as that's my primary method of transportation. I would prefer it be "non tactical" but it's not that big of a deal. I also wouldn't mind a sling pack if it is comfortable but it just makes more sense to get a small back pack

I don't really carry much just a small FAK, a couple pens, a small note pad, paracord, phone charger, 4 AA batteries, my izula, and a small survival kit.

So what do you guys recomend? Thanks for any help guys

I use a Mountainsmith Tour and find it just about perfect for my needs. Big enough to hold a full size tablet but still a manageable size. Not covered in tiny pockets and pouches but easy to find what I'm looking for in it.

You can buy "Strapettes" to turn it into a back pack. The waist straps are pretty big but comfortable and tuck away when not being used. It is a very well laid out design.

I added a LowePro and Mountainsmith small camera/battery case to mine. One is a First Aid kit and the other is a small kit containing lighter, AAA flashlight, sewing kit, and other small everyday items I might like to take with me when I'm not carrying the Tour.

EDIT:

Another option would be to get the Mountainsmith Strappettes, take off the factory clips and attach the strapettes to the "D" rings on the Remora with some small caribiners. ~$20 and you get to keep your trusty Maxpedition in service.

Thank you. I have considered putting straps on the D rings but had concerns for comfort. I also fell in love with the shape of the camelbak lobo but I have no use for the hydration system and I'd prefer for there to be a large main pocket rather then a hydration system.

It's pricey I know, but I invested in a GORUCK GR1. You could get one of there smaller packs if you want. Great design, simple organization, incredibly comfortable. I recently did the GORUCK Challenge. 12 hours and 19 miles with a backpack full of bricks and it performed amazingly. If used over many years, I think the price is worth it.

Maxpedition Noatak might be what you are looking for. More comfortable then the Remora. plus you can carry a water bottle with you.

The shapes of small hydration system such as the camelbak lobo seem perfect. I like how flat they lay on the back and they look very comfortable. Like I said I don't carry much but the problem is I would never use the bladder so I'm now looking at that design but without the hydration or something with it that is organized well

I got a chance to handle an osprey raptor 10 at my local bike shop and I think it's what I'm looking for. I would just remove the hydration bladder and store flat items in that pocket. anyone have any thoughts on this pack?

I've got quite a bit of maxpedition gear as well as a Camelback that is just a large bladder pocket and small storage pocket. Unless you have one or two large items for the bladder pocket (with nothing else in there) you're not going to be happy with trying to re-purpose a camelback. You'd end up with a bunch of crap at the bottom of a big pocket. You might be able to slip one of Maxpedition's organizer pouches in the hydration pocket if you can get the dimensions.

The Pygmy Falcon might be a good option of you're set on two straps. It's compact, but definitely a real backpack. It won't get as flat as a camelback but its pretty unobtrusive if its not packed full.

I just ordered a Noatak for EDC. It's a single strap, but the strap looks a lot sturdier and more comfortable than the remora. It's also designed so that you can swing the pack from your back to your chest and access everything while its sideways. We'll see how it works...

I've looked at the pygmy falcon and I was looking at it as a BOB actually. I went back up to the shop and was looking around more and I saw the osprey viper 9 and camelbak blowfish. so now it's about trying to decide between those. I was just going to use some kind organizer to take care of my survival kit everything else seems to have a fit somewhere in the bag. but I'm still open to more suggestions. I am also looking to see how comfortable it would be to put 2 straps on my remora

sounds like you are looking for something in the small/mid hydro-pack. Gregory makes some good ones, I like my Diablo 6. One thing to note, some packs really need the waist belt to work well, and some don't, so you will have to try them on.

As stated a hydro pack seems to be just along what I'm looking for. I had a chance to try out a few ospreys and the viper 9 seemed the best but them again I wasn't able to load them out and the shoulder pads seem pretty thin
