So i have a decision that needs to be made and need peoples input. Ive Been carying a benchmade 550 for the past 4 years, i like it and have no problems with it, however i wanted to try something new.

Im trying to decide if i should get a left hand spyderco mil, it looks like i can get one for around 130$ which is what my budget is. Ive never had a liner lock knife so im wary of this, my axis lock has had no problems and i like it, i work construction and use it pretty hard sometimes dooing stupid shit and i still have my fingers. The benchmade has a fairly thick blade and tip (1/8th?)
and has been strong enough, prying staples out of wood, cutting wire/ banding and the like.

I played with a mil at a gunshop and liked it, very smooth and diddnt have too much blade play, seemed sturdy. Very comfortable in hand.

So with thoes who own one or used one How do they hold up over time? Do they lock up tight and dont get alot of play in them when they get older?

What are the downfalls?

Thanks for any input.

Most complaints about the Spyderco Military are that the tip is too thin for a hard use folder. If you're prying staples out of wood, and the like might I recommend:
Manix 2
Endura
Cold steel Recon 1
Benchmade Presidio Ultra

Hmmmm, i diddnt notice that it had a thin tip, any more thoughts?

The only thing I don't like about millies is how high they ride in the pocket. A little bit lower riding clip and I like them a lot better.

The Millie rocks

The knife is awesome. The tip isn't too thin for cutting which is what the knife is intended to do. If you want to pry something, buy yourself a small $5 prybar and have at it. Trust me, a staple is not going to break the knife, that is probably the most exaggerated thing I've read in weeks.

Ever think of the Mille AND a leatherman for the staples and crapcutting/screwdriving and general abuse???? - even a cheap "Kick" would save lots of potential damage to a Mille or any good knife! but, yeah, I've never had a problem with the 'fine' tips on spydies!

Since you apparently like the Grip, then I suggest the BM Bone Collector. Uses the Axis Lock so it is ambidextrous. Choice of black or black/green G-10 handles with full steel liners. This is one solid feeling knife! Best part, under $100 at the right seller!:)

if you dont like the liner lock of the millie you could look into the police. they are about the same size and its a lockback. or the endura is a little cheaper, but it has the frn handle which i'm not a fan of. the manix 2 is a nice knife too, especially if you get the new one with the cts-xhp blade.
