Hey guys. I always like to come here when the urge for a new knife comes on:).
I like the blade of the Bark River Bushcrafter but really prefer plain old 1095 or O1, with a full flat grind instead of scandi. So basically, a clone or close to it of that knife but in carbon, 1/8'' thick and FFG.

Short of going custom, is there any production knife similar? If not, do you have a recommendation for a maker that might be interested in accommodating me? Many thanks!

Thanks guys but all those don't really interest me. I guess I should have been a bit more specific.
First, I like slight drop points and narrow blades, about 1'' wide and 4'' long.
I have a huge dislike for blunt blades (as in rounded over tips like spear points) and finger grooves. And I really wanted a full flat ground blade because I have enough scandies.
This might be harder than I thought....
I do appreciate your responses though :)

Check out tuppers site too, a few other drop points on there. I have spoken with him, great guy and he will make/mod one of his designs to your liking.

Anything at SwampRat Knifeworks that would suit you? Not 1095 but some awfully fine stuff comes out of there.

I sure know what you mean about good 1095 with FFG.

What about the ESEE LaserStrike? It has a stupid name, but it's only $100 and comes with one of the best kydex sheaths out there. The LS is one of the best Bushcraft blades I've used.

I think it was originally a TOPS design, hence the ridiculous name.

this is the Element 01 I linked earlier, but the clip point version which I think is more in line with a style you would prefer over the original.

Much better blade style, but I would want about an inch longer blade, FFG and no finger grooves. The steel thickness is to my liking. There are so many nice production and customs being made today that I haven't bought because of having blades that are much too thick for my liking.

I'm still searching but I'm having fun doing it, thanks guys.

Have you considered an L.T. Wright Genesis or Lon Humphrey?

I did just now. Thanks, but neither of those interest me I'm afraid. The style of blade that the Genesis has, regardless of the brand or the maker, is one that I cannot bear to look at. Sorry, but to me that type of blade leaves me cold:barf:. No offense intended to those that like that kind of blade.:)Slight drop points are what I like.
I'm having very little luck finding something appealing to me, so I'm considering changing to convex instead of full flat, which would mean different steel as well, but I might end up going that route.
I really, really like the looks of the BRKT Gunny Hunter, so I may very well do a complete about face from my original wants:o
I do thank everyone for their responses though. It's always good to look at different things for new ideas.
