I only do it once a year. I have found it useful to refresh my memory before the yearly grand carving performance. This year, I have been viewing this one. It's a bit frilly, but it also does a good job of showing the main cuts to be made.

Good job Frank.
I need to show this to my bro in law.
He will usually get one of the bluntest knives (believe me Ive tried to explain),make a show of steeling it sharp and proceed to hack the turkey into shreds.

I will definitely try this method.

Is it just me or do the guy's knives seem really dull? He makes so many sawing motions; they don't bite into the breast at all.

I can't stand turkey, that's why I rotisserie Cornish hens every year.
They're great to eat as is, but if you pull that chicken off and sandwich it between some 5 cheese garlic bread you've got the best sandwich you could ever eat ( as good as any sandwich can be without the addition of bacon anyways )

I was thinking that too. Dude needs to get some decent knives and some water stones.

Once again, my father used an electric knife to carve the turkey into shreds. It really is fun to watch. :D

Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!

Electric carving knife?? ;) Sounds like something that might've appeared in an early episode of 'Columbo' :D Mind you, Peter Falk was ultra kool. Still, tearing it up into shreds does make it a whole lot easier for the old people to chew....:D Here, when we eat Turkey or big stuff, we just pass it round for people to take bites out of..

Is it one of those green and white ones from the '70s? My mom's been using the same one to butcher (literally and figuratively) turkeys my entire life! :D

I don't know when they were invented, but they were all the rage when I was growing up. A modern miracle, slightly more delicate than a chainsaw. :D

I would post a picture, but I guess it wouldn't be considered "traditional." ;)
