I would never buy a folder with this feature. Reminds me of a cheap 5 dollar folders with massive handles. However, I’m just curious about general vibe here from this new approach from Benchmade.

Thanks.

My issue would be less the cheap look and feel and more about the fact I just don't like the feel of rubber grips and they tend to collect dirt and grime easily. There may be some exceptions to this but general if I see rubber handles/grips I move on.

I said NO, solely because of this knife here. It is fantastic and the rubberized feel and Grip are absoloutley amazing to hold and to use. I have even removed the clip and it will stay upright in my pocket partly because of the added Grip resistance.

This is my rubber handled benchmade..... photos taken yesterday

Here is what it endured for 22 months: https://www.bladeforums.com/threads/my-benchmade-folders-journey.1413195/

I do not believe that durability is an issue as I have just now retired it after 10 years of faithful service (with almost 2 years of oops) and I could not have subjected it to worse conditions as an EDC. Outside of the rubber being pushed down from the pocket clip, it survived heat, water and cold just fine. The summer temps get well over 100 and the winter temps get below freezing where it was lost.

So my answer based upon first hand experience is an emphatic NO.

I really enjoy the Blur and it’s combo aluminum with rubberized inserts. The traction is welcome when bearing down on the knife. The same goes for Moras and a few of the CS offerings.

In my opinion rubber/kraton type handles are good to go on lower cost user knives.

For something more high end I don’t think I would like having the rubber/kraton feature as they tend to degrade in sunlight and wear more prematurely. Once a knife gets into the 100 dollar plus range I’d prefer to not have rubberized handles.

I hate them. They feel and look like an el-cheapo knife. I bought a Mini-Freek before I realized they had rubber handles. Sold it immediately. Lint sticks to them, they are hard to get in and out of your pocket. Not worth the hassle.

Interesting, the “No’s” have it thus far. Looks like the critics are more vocal however.

I'd own a FREEK if it wasn't rubber. May have to get one and get some after market scales eventually.

I really like the rubber grips, however I don't always like the grip shapes, particularly the finger bumps.
