Recently I got it in my head that I needed a good user bowie knife. I wanted carbon steel and I wanted a knife model that had a good reputation for being strong. Also I wanted a leather sheath that would hold the knife on my left side at an angle for cross draw. I wanted to be able to use it like a "southern comfort" style sheath with a stud as well, but also have a frog with a belt loop on it and a retention strap that went over the guard. I figured that I would need to have a custom sheath made. Little did I know, some one out there had the EXACT knife I was looking for.
So I've been looking on ebay. After about 6 weeks of waiting and watching and failing to win any auctions, I finally found exactly the knife I was looking for!

Here it is!

Old school Cold Steel Carbon V. The best part is that the previous owner actually knew how to sharpen! All I had to do to bring it back to razor sharp was strop it on some 2000 grit sand paper for about 2 minutes.
Show us what gems you've found that were just exactly what you were looking for! Stories about how you got them are optional. Pics are always a plus!

Thanks for checking out my thread and sharing!

The set up weighs in at a little over a pound and a half. I carried it around the house yesterday, sat in it, did the dishes etc. It's not too bad :) Like carrying a very short sword.

Congrats on the score! What a great price for such old school goodness.

I received my RJ Martin Gen. 1 Q-36 Flipper off Ebay. I sat and watched it for a week. I didn't want to bid too early because I was afraid I'd drive the price up. By the last day of the auction there were still no bids and I figured that there would be an insane bidding war in the last 20 minutes or so. At 15 minutes out there was still nothing so I put my bid on it. I waited and watched... I was completely shocked when no one else bid on the knife and that my only bid was the winning one. For a whole week I was completely anxious and antsy for no reason. Needless to say that I was ecstatic that I won the knife. It's the bottom one in the picture.

It seems like if you patient enough you can get some pretty good stuff on ebay.

Some times guys get lucky though. Last weekend I was out shooting clays with some of my friends. They all know I'm into knives. Anyway, we were taking a break and one of my buddies says "hey check it out, Chris dropped his knife!" Of course I knew that I hadn't, and said something along the lines of "that aint my knife". What my buddy ended up with was an Aluminum handled Gerber Auto with a tanto blade. What are the odds, to find a knife in the middle of the forest, way off the road? A dirt road at that. The knife must have been dropped the day before, it had no corrosion at all and was laying on top of the leaf litter. Some guys get all the luck, huh?
