Happy Thanksgiving!!

Hello, Just thought it is a great time to say thanks to CRK for all that they do for their customers and non customers alike!! Also I realize that today is a time for thanks for everything in life.....particularly all the freedoms we cherish and enjoy!!!! :)

Again, Thanks CRK!! Job well done!!! :D

Have a great holiday, Jonathan Chubb

Right thanks for that, I will sit in the dark and whistle softly waiting for someone with manners to tell me what Thanksgiving is all about then.

Try to remember that American customs are not celebrated by all and when a person asks politly about a custom it is nice to give a straight answer.

I was hoping to get an answer and what this celebration ment to individual people. Seems I expected rather a lot.

 :(

With all that is going on in the world, it's hard to think that we here in America have much right now to be thankful for.

Some of us here, no doubt, have more to be thankful for than others.
However, we all have the big things. Life, liberty and, at least the right to pursue happiness. Some even have a few of the little things such as a small Sebenza or Mnandi.

It's almost hard to believe anyone in the world, no less in Britain doesn't understand Thanksgiving. It is perhaps, our most important holiday. Isn't there a similar celebration in England?

Maybe if we told Wayne he could answer.
Here's a website I found via a Yahoo search; they seem to have some history on the holiday:

Basically it is a celebration of the fact that our forefathers (and mothers) managed to survive on this new continent nearly four hundred years ago. They celebrated with a feast, so one of the things we do on Thanksgiving is stuff ourselves silly with turkey, cranberry sauce, stuffing, etc. Our modern interpretation also includes giving thanks for various things in our lives we are thankful for; family, friends, etc. Hope this gives you some idea of what we are celebrating when we talk about Thanksgiving.

Hi General

Thanksgiving is not a celebration toward good food. The Pilgrims, came to America to escape religous persecution from the king of England. these were bible believing Christians who had complete faith in God and new that Jesus Christ is the son of God. The first Winter here a 1/3 of the settlers died from the cold , Illness, and starvation. In the fall of the next year the 2nd Ship of people arrived, with Winter settling in they brought no provisions. All food left from the first group was rationed, each person had a daily ration of 7 kernals of Corn, and they all praised god, that winter not one Person was lost. So i give praise to God for that group of people coming to a strange land so i might freely Give praise to God.

The food is a really important part of Thanksgiving in our home. However, football and some other stuff is not.

We all, in this country, celebrate this holiday in our own ways for our own reasons. It's truly a great day for all Americans.
