Time line question about the regulars

First off forgive me if this has been discussed, I couldn’t find anything on it. My question is, did all the bg-42 regulars have the original straight style pocket clip?

Mine did, but I ordered a kinked clip to bring the knife up to date.

No , very few did , most are the "bent" variety.

I have a '99 that has the original style clip and an '01 that has the double bent clip so sometime between that is when the switch happened.

No. The clip changed in 2000, so there were many BG42's with newer style clips.

To be more precise, 2000 is the time when they began to change, and it was 2001 that really completed the change in an all-round way.

Late 2001 I think, but there were still some special cases that have occurred a bit later

There was definitely overlap. I have an SV30 from May 2001, and a BG-42 from July 2002.
