If you could live your life over in any other time (era) which would it be and why? This question was asked of me while being interviewed for a management position at an Automotive Plant.

And how did you respond ....
I would have like to lived in about the 1840-1850's, becaus I think that was the most fascinating in our history.

Early 1950's. Because incredible advances were being made in the field of aeronautics. And the only question anybody asked was "Will it go faster? Will it go higher?" Instead of the question today, "how much will it cost? Will the first article come out perfect?" The bean counters have taken over aviation (as well as every other publicly traded company.)

At my aviation company, we have 1 VP out of the 10 with an engineering background. And the CEO and all the program managers came out of finance. This leads to ludicrous decisions being made that the rest of us have to live with.

End of the last ice age when humans shared the world with the ice age mega fauna. 5000 years before the neolithic revolution/ agriculture. The world was sparsely populated, game was unimaginably abundant. Life expectancy was longer than during much of later human existance.

I think the 'correct' answer for said interview is something like,

"Why, I'm just so happy and excited to be living today, with such great opportunities with (insert company name here) and with the advances in (insert job-related field here) .... I just can't wait to get up in the morning and see how we can make things even better here in (insert relevant department here) .... yada, yada, yada."

I'm not sure they want to know about those medieval warrior fantasies or other nostalgic fixation on the past, when determining who's going to help their company 'progress into the future' etc.

Probably during the late 70's or early 80's so I could make a fortune on the stock market.

Early 1900's so I could invent the inflatable rubber life raft and exposure suits, pack them in steamer trunks and get a ticket on the Titanic. An hour after the hit, sell them to Mr. Astor, and any other rich sob's around for ALOT of money! Soon as the Carpathia docked in New York run like hell for the bank!:D

Despite the threat of terrorism, global warming, etc., I actually like the era we currently live in.

Of course, if I could go back, I'd go back to the mid-80's and invest all my savings in Microsoft stock before it took off. :D
