Hey Guys, my whole life, I have pretty much carried kershaw and gerber knifes. Lately my EDC and switched up and I carry a wave on my hip, looking for a good folder in my right pocket. I am really looking into a mini grip. (Trying to spend under 100 bucks)

I am pretty sure I want drop point tip in either 154, or D2.

I have a lanksy 5 stone that I would sharpen with. Is either one of those steels better than the other for keeping a razor edge on? Also I only think the drop point because seems like it would just be a more useful blade, thoughts? I really like the look of the sheepsfoot.

Thanks Guys!

154cm is the standard steel for the Griptilians theses days. If you want D2 you will need to either buy it from Cabelas or the Benchmade Custom shop at Benchmade.com
That said 154cm is a great EDC steel that is easy to sharpen the D2 is a lot more difficult to sharpen if you let the blade get dull.

I say splurge a little and get a Doug Ritter.

But you can't really go wrong with a mini grip, no matter what combination you go with.

Welcome to Blade forums... The Mini Grip is my absolute favorite Benchmade. There is nothing wrong with BM's 154. It holds an edge good, and is very easy to touch up.
They do a good job with their D2 as well. Once you have a good edge, it will hold it well. You didn't mention if your Lansky has diamond stones or not, but either way it should work fine, but if you let the edge go to long, it can require a little more work to bring it back. Just don't let the edge go to far and you will be fine.

When you first get one, it may feel somewhat cheap because of the plastic scales. It seems to be a common thought, and I was the same way. It does go away after you use it a bit, and realize what a great knife they really are. Don't worry about the plastic scales. They are very tough, It is almost impossible to hurt them. There are a few very good videos floating around that show the Griptilian being torture tested. They take an amazing amount of brutal abuse.

Yes, splurge is the word of the day. My numbers came in good for 2015 and have decided to buy a few Busses and Benchmades. I also just ordered a bundle of Shoyeido Translucent Path to enjoy while looking at my blades.

Well I went out today and got my first mini grip. AMAZING. I went OD Green, with back blade. 154CM I like the lock a lot.
