Just got this from the Fedex man so these will be first impressions, and often first impressions, at least for me, dictate whether I keep a knife or send it back. So here goes;

BLADE: it was this that really grabbed my attention to start with. The almost full false edge coupled with the wide blade really impressed me. I would like the blade to be a bit thicker but can live with it at the current thickness (.120") since it appears to be a real slicer. Two things the picture didn't show or I didn't see were the recurve, which I like, and the blade finish which consist of the flats being satin finished and the other parts being a light blasted finish. This is a really neat and pleasing contrast. I REALLY like this finish!:D :cool:

HANDLE: The handle is titanium with a anodized blue titanium overlay. The liners are .075" thick with the overlays being .045" for a total of .120" per liner. Again it would not have hurt my feelings if this were a little thicker, but definately acceptable as is. The shape is great with a flare at the front end and a slight birds beak at the rear end to "lock" your hand in. Grooves are located at the top for your thumb to gain a better purchase. Clip is mounted for tip up and works well. I did notice that the pivot screws are rather "fancy" as is the thumb studs. I like this.

ACTION & LOCKUP: The action is very smooth, even after I tightened it a "tiny" bit it still moves through the complete arc unhindered. The lockup is tight, tight, tight. The locking liner is .075" thick and the blade is .120" thick so you have great coverage on the blade with the lock. The locking liner is grooved to facilitate closing. On first impressions I would say that this is a lock that is done correctly!

INTANGIBLES: Those things not mentioned so far that may have some bearing for certain people. For me the weight of the knife is important. I like the knife to have some weight to it! I do not like these knives that go out of their way to make the knife as light as humanly possible, just not my cup of tea. This knife weighs in at 5.4 ounces so there is a good heft to it. The backspacer is about 4/5ths the length of the handle and is STEEL. That I like VERY much.
The fit and finsih are outstanding. The lines of this knife just flow together, closed and open. The little touches, like the grooved overlays and fancy screw heads and thumb studs are nice little extra touches that the maker could have skipped but didn't. This gives me some insights into how the maker views his knives!:cool: The first things I generally check on a folder are how well centered the blade is when closed and if there is any blade play in the blade when opened. This knife passed both test with flying colors!:)

Well it looks like a keeper at this point. Larry told me to be the judge on this knife when I got it. I know when Larry tells me this I am usually in for a treat...........This was no exception!!:D :)

Kit Carson brought this maker to my attention a long time ago (almost 2 years ago if memory serves me) at a knife show, it was the Las Vegas Classic I think.

Anyway, I was impressed by the level of fit and finish you mention and the price of the knife. It was obvious that a lot of work went into the knife, both in design and production. Great attention was paid to the the little details as well as the big ones. The style was a little unique and may not appeal to everyone but, those for whom the style fit were sure to find a great knife at a great price.

Does he have a website yet?

Don't think there is a web site yet. I talked with Kit after I ordered this knife to get his input and it was positive. If Kit says he is okay....he is okay! As far as a picture goes, being digitally challenged I can no do. But I can post a link for you to go to.
