There's an older gentleman at the local flea market who sells the Frost , Steel Warrior brand traditional knives....Since his selection is so large I get to pick and choose the nicest knives and last year I gave at least two dozen away for Christmas...The wife does most of the shopping but last year some gifts included a little box taped to the outside...The knives went over so well I want to do it again..CD

I've never seen these knives, could you post up a picture please?

some of the budget import lines like rough rider are actually really nice as far as quality goes and can be an excellent way to get somebody interested in traditional pocket knives, we all started somewheres with this hobby and i'd hazard a guess alot of us started with something that was budget in nature. i havent handled either of the OP's brands but in the case of rough rider i have been impressed for the most part, my son has a few, they came reasonably sharp and the F&F was pretty good
good on you for gifting knives

I have not handled any of the Steel warrior myself, but have a few of the RoughRiders I got to use for patterns,I was impressed by the quality for a 5-10 dollar knife.Good way to get started with Tradionals.

I hear good things about the Frost Steel Warrior line. I like their Ocoee River line. Not expensive knives, just users.

I gave away some Frost Cutlery knives a few years ago.... the receipient smiles and thanks me and says... Oh, a Frost.

I gave away a few RR Scouts at our Troop's annual "sneaky Santa" gift exchange last year, they got 'stolen' a lot during the gift opening part. The guys were still using them at summer camp time and they were no worse for the wear. This year I think I'll get a couple more, plus some Opinels for the gift exchange and see which ones get stolen more.

A buddy of mine went wild ordering from the Frost tv show every Friday night. A couple years ago, he amassed a huge number of knives, that he almost just turned around and gave to a junk knife dealer at a flea market in PA. The only good knives he got were the Frost made corelon Case doctors knives. The patterns were neat on the Steel Warrior knives, but the Frost and Steel Warrior didn't hold up well. It is a great gesture of good will, and will hopefully get some people to buy some good knives. I would go for the Rough Riders though, or maybe the lower priced Case knives or SAKs. I have found lots of Victorinox and Wenger SAKs cheap at flea markets, junk malls and farmers markets.

strangely i found that Office Depot (at least here in jackson mississippi) is now stocking wenger esquires
think they were about $12 bucks.

just thought i would mention it, odd place to pick up a stocking stuffer, but people might want to know :p

When? this fellow shows up at the flea market he has a bunch of them..Some will have nice wood ,clean lines and open and close smoothy..A few will be QC rejects..When you get to pick up and inspect each one before purchase you really get to see the differance.. I take my time and pick the best ones...Last year I gave out congress and whitlers...This year I might give out trappers,stockmans...It was fun explaining to my younger nephews the differances between their knives..They also liked the nice wood patterns I picked out...CD

BTW The QC rejects I found were just a couple Frosts, most were fairly nice...All the Steel Warriors I inspected/bought were great..
