I know that the Casio G-Shock is an extremely durable watch and I do enjoy the ones I have.

Today I was out browsing watches and came across a Timex Ironman watch that is shock resistant. I don't think I was aware that Times had a model like this.

Has anybody had much experience with the Timex Shock models? What do you think of them compared to the Casio G-Shock?

Of course I got the one I was looking at, mainly because I though it looked kind of neat with the negative display.

What do you think of your Timex Shock now that you've had it for a couple of months? Where did you buy it at?

I've got one of those, or at least a model that's so close as to be it's twin. Good watch. I wear it on duty, and I've had it for about two years with no problems whatever.
Comes with a sturdy (if not too attractive...)nylon/velcro strap that's infinitely adjustable.

After a couple of months I like it very much. Mine has the resin band. I got it at Wal-Mart...about 55 dollars I think.

The only thing I might do different is to get the standard display. The negative display looks nice, but they are not as easy to see at a glance.

No, I have not had that problem. The only time mine ever fog up is in the middle of summer and going from a cold building outside into very hot temps and high humidity, then they only for on the outside of the crystal.

Is yours fogging on the outside or inside?

My 6600(?) fogged from the inside. It would fog up below 45. I didn't know this was a problem with G-Shocks.

I dont think its a common problem. I have a few Gs and have no problem at all with any internal fogging at any temp.

You might email Casio and ask them about it.

I've had a couple of Timex Ironman watches, years ago, before this "Shock" designation. I used to wear them bicycling and hiking, to spare my other watches. They were indestructible through mud, sweat, swimming, bashing into the occasional tree ... :)

Mine had problems with fogging, not to mention many other problems.

sak collector,

Your Timex shock sounds like a great watch for the money. I'll have to keep my eyes open for one.

if you are getting internal fogging in your watch you have a problem with the seals of yiour watch.

if you change the battery you are supposed to change the seals as well to ensure moisture cannot get in.

i have a GW-200rb and a DW-6600 that i worn in a hot tub and jumped into a pool right afterwards and had no problems with fogging.

and just to answer ahead of time if you had a fogging problem and you have never opened you watch, yes it is a defect. either a crack of mismade part or a quality control issue with the watch not being tested before being shipped.

this does not just apply to g-shocks any watch that fogs is not properly sealed.

Yeah, I knew they (more than one G-Shock, new, never opened up) weren't right. Every one I've bought(3) after dos mil has fogged, but otherwise performed fine. Figured it was the Malaysia versus Japan made thing.

My first, bought in 1990 and still "tickin," never did (does, just checked).
