I was in CVS pharmacy yesterday, and I found a very nice small size hinged tin. It is a mini-sampler of chocolate, I think it was Whitmans, or some similar brand. Anyway, the tin is metal (duh), and slightly larger than the standard altoids tin, but still very pocket-able. If you are looking for a larger tin because your PSK has outgrown the altoids tin, check this out. It was $1.50, and there were 4 pieces of chocolate in it. They weren't too bad. If I remember correctly, there are coconut, caramel, solid, and nougut (or whatever the stuff is in 3 musketeers).

Dang! You mean I can finally stop eating those darned mints and eat some chocolate now? :D

Yup, and believe me the chocolates disappear a LOT faster than those mints do.

Hey! I am heading out to look for tins, but you guys need to help me out. I am trying to build an all purpose/daily kit that is easy to carry. Any ideas on what to stuff in the tins? Thanks!!!!!

Those altoids can burnout you tatsebuds faster than any hot sauce!!!:barf:

Do you think they sell them at Eckerds? Unfortunately, I don't know of a CVS Pharmacy in my area.

Thanks,
Jason

Eckerds had the Whitmans chocolates, but they were in little cardboard boxes. I'll have to try Walmart.

I am relatively new to the wilderness & survival skills forum. What do most of you put in the tins anyway?

Thanks,
Jason

My mini kit is based on Doug Ritters Kit, you should start at his website www.equipped.org It is an excellent reference. Look under personal mini-kits, there is a ton of great information there, from what to include to where to get it.

Yes I have that tin.I filled it up with water, poured the water in a mesureing cup and did the same with the Altoids. If I remember right it has about 25% more space in it than the Altoids.

Who says I have to much time on my hands?:D

Yeah, it really isn't that much longer or wider, mostly just a little deeper, maybe a quarter inch or so. I got another one last weekend, I seem to not be able to leave the store without one.

I went from a bulging Altoids to this, and have room for a pool and a basketball court...

Thanks for the tip man....

I've snipped this verbatim from my original post in "Gadgets & Gear":

New mini-PSK tin opportunity!
To all of you fellow forumites tired of the ease with which you can insert a folding canoe & a collapsible nasal hair & haemorrhoid trimmer into an Altoids tin, here's a new challenge!

In the UK I have just found in my local Waitrose a tin suitable for a mini-mini-PSK!

It contains tiny mints called "O\ZON", made by Ga-Jol, a Danish firm whose full name is Galle & Jessen. The tin is a cool grey anodised metal colour & is approximately 2 3/8" x 1 7/8" x 5/8" deep. It will actually fit inside an Altoids tin and vanishes in even a shirt pocket.

So far, without even really trying, I have managed to fit into it a Photon-type LED torch, 12 matches, a pencil stub, 2 Ibuprofen painkillers, a condom & some Elastoplast.

Let the games commence!

Update. Here's the total contents so far:

LED torch
Compass
P38 can opener
3 x 20p coins
2 Elastoplast
Condom
6 matches
2 pins
2 safety pins
2 paper clips
2 scalpel blades
2 x 400mg Ibuprofen
20’ of 50lb kite line
Personal ID & medical info.
Pencil
