Tin Chirra, Spear Vala, Mini Wajaski Sword, Manjushree Sword

That is the light Thamar Chirra knife I've seen. I have a Yek Chirra at 18.5" and 24 ounces, which was the lightest I had seen, but that Tin Chirra is the absolute lightest I've seen. Impressive.

I've got an 18" Samsher at 22 oz as well if I remember right. Well, more of a Mk. 1 style but still.

43oz over 28", how does it swing?!

Actually, it's quite maneuverable, a tad tip heavy, but to be expected. Very good for what it's made for, and that's power swings, and circular strike styles. If it was longer like others, it would probably be a little hard to handle one handed.

Wow nice! is that manjushree 28 in overall length or blade length? how long is the blade?

Typically HI lengths are overall length unless otherwise stated. It's Auntie's custom since kukris would be difficult to measure because of the curve, so they are measured in a straight line from bottom of the handle to the tip of the blade.

I have two Manjushree swords, one by Sher and one by Bura.

I just measured the Sher Manjushree. It's 27.5" overall length and weighs 36 oz. The blade is 20.5" long from tip to guard, and the balance point is 5" in front of the guard. The Bura one is 28" overall length and weighs 36 oz.

Sher Manjushree:

The Sher handle is red chandan wood, which you can't get any more because it's an endangered species.

Bura Manjushree:

The Bura handle is purpleheart. Very unusual for an HI blade.

These are one-handed swords, but if you have small hands you can hold them two-handed. My hands are average sized (for a westerner) and I can get both hands on the handle if I overlap the bulbous end a bit.

Actually the Manjushree being the Sword of Wisdom I think it encourages one not to fight or at least not to fight somebody with a Manjushree.

If two swordsmen meet and they're both carrying Manjushree swords, instead of fighting they might have a drink together and discuss philosophy, or at least swordsmanship. One would hope.

That's a gorgeous Manjushree. I love how pointy it is and how well defined the fullers are.

Mine is also 28" overall, at 39oz, made by Purna. It also feels a little tip heavy, so I do think that's just the style of sword it is. My 50oz 32" Tibetan Short Sword feels lighter in hand.

Here they are together

Your Tibetan Short Sword is awesome! I remember that one, glad it went to your home.

That be truth right there. Cause, fighting someone with a Manjushree would indeed be foolhardy.
