TiNi doesn't like citrus fruit?

So, I had an orange in my hand and an S60V Kershaw Avalanche in my back pocket. I peeled the orange with the knife, and now I notice that the part of the blade that went into the nice is a lighter color. I never used this knife on fruit before, so I was wondering, should I not let a TiNi coated blade touch citrus fruit?
Thanks,
Richard

If a knife can't be used to cut fruit it's a poor knife. The stainless steel doesn't need a coating to protect it ,the TiN is only for show.I wouldn't worry about it if it discolors or comes off ignore it,

My friend ruined the TiNi coating on his LCC by cutting radiator hose, the antifreeze really messed it up.

I believe the TiNi on your knife is perfectly fine. The citrus juice probably just gave that part of the knife a good cleaning. Try using a window cleaner on the whole blade, and I'm sure you'll see the same thing. TiNi, while not porous, is usually put on a beadblasted blade, so there are lots of dips and valleys on a microscopic level. This makes the blade prone to holding oils from whatever it is you happen to oil your blades with. The oil from you hands will put a darker shine on the clean TiNi coated blade. For an even color, just apply whatever over the blade, and all will be like new.

This is all based on my experience with a TiNi coated LCC D/A that I've had for three years.
