Was the TiNi finished Tech Bowie ever made in Japan? I saw one listed in the A.G. Russell Fall 2008 Catalogue that was listed as being made in Japan and had the old SOG Specialty Knives logo on the blade instead of the new "blade/split bullet" logo. A.G. Russell's website now lists it as made in Tiawan. The one I have is made in Tiawan and has the new logo on the blade. If they ever existed, I would love to find an older Japanese made one with the older logo. Anyone ever see or own one of these?

Thanks :)

Hi Santino,

Sorry wasn't around yesterday. yes the TiNi Tech Bowie was actually made in Japan.

You are correct! :D Those made in Japan have the old "square SOG logo" and have "Seki Japan" engraved on the other side of the knife. They also come with a leather sheath instead of the current kydex sheaths. Currently the present one (which I have too) are made in Taiwan.

You can still find the old school Tech Bowies made in Japan on many online shops. Just look for the square sog logo. Ask the seller if in doubt and make sure it comes with a leather sheath and has the Japan engraving on it.

Thanks bro. Thats exactly what I wanted to know. Before I start "googling", any suggestions on where I should look first? Thanks again.

You're welcome! ;)

Uh, no recommended places. I usually get my knives from the evilbay - cheaper and more "live" pictures of the knife available. However if you buy from a store you definately get a NIB unopened and untouched, though only slightly more expensive.

Just try the "sog tech bowie black tini" search and search each link one by one. :)

Edit: Oh, and the older knives may have been in a pure white SOG box instead of the current mostly black ones.
