Ron, Bobby B and all who have TiNi products from SOG:

How tough is this coating? Ron what type of tests has SOG put these products through?

I had a co-worker who absolutely swore by his TiNi Powerpliers. Toughest thing around he'd always say. He could use it to hammer at things, put it in seawater and do all types of potential harm to it but the coating always held up and only the implemensts ever needed repair or replacing. I don't believe his claims to be false but perhaps over-exaggerated.

Trevor always claimed that that tool could outperform any other brand of multi-tool out there hands down...without a shadow of a doubt. So I was just wondering what kind of 'formal' testing you've seen or personally tried on the TiNi?

Is it that indestrutible?

Hi BOK,

The tool will not likely perform any better...except maybe a bit more cutting life out of the wire cutters. Only the plier head, handles and links holding the handles together are coated...nothing else (so there's no benefit to the foldout tool components).

Where the coating "shines," is three-fold: 1) excellent for corrosion resistance in marine (and similarly harsh) environments, 2) wear resistance (in that the coating itself is nearly indestructible compared to any other traditional coating), and 3) dazzlingly attractive (just pull it out and show it off to see what I mean!).

I've had mine for about 2 years now, it still looks great. I have certainly used it too.
As Ron says, when I take it out and twirl it open, it never fails to be commented on...;)
