I gave my CRKT M16 SFG to one on my truck drivers a few years ago and today he asked me if I could “ fix the knife I gave him 5 years ago?”. I asked what was wrong with it and he hands me this:

So I scratched my head for a minute and told him I’d work on it but fixing it may be a different story.
I looked around and found some heavy single strand copper wire and ROUGH ground some shouldered pins.

Peened them down and brushed them with a scotch brite belt.

Functional for the time being, and a 20 minute repair.

Wow, he's pretty hard on a knife. Nice job with the fix on the handle, but what in the world did he do to the blade? The serrations are completely gone.

Kinda looks like he tried to sharpen it by dragging it behind his truck for a couple of days

You put about the right amount of work into it for a guy that's probably going to drive nails with it, by the looks of things. Nice fix. Probably made him very happy.

He was quite appreciative and surprised, he’ll likely get a few more years use out of it.

Its nice to give someone a gift that they actually use and appreciate. Good job on the repair too.
