Found this old 14" chef's knife at the flea market for a few bucks, it has a lot of pitting, a bowl in the edge, and a huge bend about 6 inches from the tip. I saw it as a decent project to keep me from boozing it up this weekend.
I cut it, shaped it, ground it, then put a handle on it with some old left over junk I had laying around. While it's far from perfect, it is a good solid functional knife. I even had enough steel left past the bend for a second blade to tinker with.
I'm thinking about wrapping the little one it in jute and dipping it in fiberglass resin.
