I'm looking a very small fixie - around a 2" blade. I've about decided on one of Arno Bernard's minis, but thought I'd entertain suggestions for alternatives before I pull the trigger. Anyone?

check out tops stuff. The wolf pup is pretty cool. They also have some others but i cant speak for them out of first hand knowledge but i do own the wolf pup. i beleave mdtactical.com has the tops knives broken down into blade lengths.

What do you want to do with the small knife ?

For utility, Arno Bernard makes good knives.

For utility/self defense, Busse Assault Shaker. This little beast is indestructible !!

If you are looking for something for general utility, you have to checkout Don Cowles knives. He can do something from a basic utility to the fanciest black lip pearl. I have one of each that I use an as EDC. I wouldn't skin a buffalo with one, but Don's knives have handled everything else I have asked them to do. As an added benefit, Don is one of the nicest people I have met in a long time.

The ShivWorks Lil' Loco isnt really a utility piece, its a purpose driven last ditch defensive tool, inspired by the OSS/SOE hideout knives of WW-II, but much much better.
If thats what you are looking for, by all means get a Lil Loco.

If you are looking for a general defensive knife, just in a smaller size, look at the HideAway knife, www.hideawayknife.com - or at the La Griffe.

If you are looking for utility, well look at the HideAway and La Griffe again. Then look at some others, Assualt Shaker, Arno Bernard, who-ever tickles your fancy. :)

Phil Tham makes some very nice little ones.

He made a neck knife for me out of damascus that is really sweet. Right now the Sheath Mechanic is making a kydex sheath for it. I'd post a pic, but I can't post pics on this forum. I'll vouch for his work, though. Its really first rate.

What he said. ;)

He's right that the Loco isn't for utility. Read more about it on shivworks.com.

For what it's worth, I have a Yurco Straight HideAway on order to do double duty as a utility knife and defensive piece. FrontSight has a really cool project going, you should check it out.

My HideAway is a Joe Brum Claw, should be done in a matter of weeks *looks hopeful* Really looking forward to it.

I need to get a money order sent out for my Lil' Loco too, will be getting one of them (two actually) as well. But like I said, its a pretty specialized little tool. I tend to specialize in specialized little tools, and want them botht o learn from and because I can add them to my carry profile. I dont think a lot of people can always - so the HideAway becomes a very good choice - and there are a lot of options for concealment available for it as well, but its just a little bigger and more all around applicable.

For a nice little utility blade, exactly 2" long, check out the Jens Anso Sheepsfoot (http://www.ansoknives.com/). The one with the ultra thin carbon fiber handles is on my list of knives that I will eventually buy. There are many options for the knife, as well as differnt sheath types and materials. Jens can make you a nice dressy sheath, if that's what you need.

Jason Cutter just posted two nice ones in the size you're looking for. They're called "Tiny" knives and one was still available this morning. It has black micarta scales and goes for $110 or so.

There is a new Benchmade coming out that sounds like what you want. The Benchmade/Snody Activator. Run a search on it on the forums.

I like either the CRKT Carson Neck knife or the the REAL DEAL Carson Neck knife. I think it's about $175 difference in price for the Custom Carson. Awesome little knife.

How about the Nemesis Knives Hellion? I was looking at these myself, so if anyone has any info on the Hellion, I'd like to hear it. Don't mean to highjack the thread.

wayne hendrix.

are you thinking custom or production? and what is your price range?
