A lot of us like to age wood before mounting it on Bowies. This is a process I just got today from another ML builder:
I have used strong tea solution soaked into pine and other softwoods. This was to give it tannic acid. Then place the wood in a sealed box with a small pan of strong ammonia. The ammonia will casue the tanic acid soaked wood to appear a 100 years old in a few days. Suspect it would do the same for cherry
