Tip down or tip up???

I know this is a deciding factor for me when buying a new knife. I either remove the clip and carry it in a pouch or use a tip down clip. I prefer tip down because it is a more natural way for me to take it out and open it. It also keeps the pivot out of the bottom of my pocket where all of the lint and such is located.

Which do you prefer, and why?

Tip down. More comfortable for me to draw and the knife is less likely to open in my pocket. I guess it's just what I got used to and am comfortable with.

I tend to carry large folders, and if I carry them tip up, I have to inch-worm my hand down the grip to open them.

Tip up. Tip down just doesn't feel right to me. I try to convert every knife I own to tip up.

It doesn't really matter to me which way the clip is. Sometimes I like tip up on a knife, sometimes tip down. It really depends on the knife in my eyes.

Used to worry about this;know it has been a topic many times; have found it really doesn't make any difference; as many have said , just personal preference; have found other things to worry about and they are small things too!!

Tip down if it has a flipper or spyder hole. Especially if it is a larger knife that I carry in my back pocket.

For really small knives that I carry up front (which is a rarity these days) I'll carry either way but prefer tip down.

Depends on the knife. As a general rule, larger knives go tip down and smaller ones go tip up.

I have found that the longer I collect, the more the small things seem to bother me! I used to not care either but now it is a breaking point of a purchase

To be honest, as long as it's right hand carry it doesn't really matter to me. I prefer tip up, but it doesn't make or break a knife for me at all. Hell, even when a knife comes from the factory tip down I usually won't change it.

Tip down for longer knives and I can tolerate tip up on shorter knives. It's the inch worming stuff on the longer knives that makes me prefer tip down.

I prefer tip down on larger knives and tip up on smaller knives. But it really makes no difference to me. Once you have the muscle memory down both of them are just as fast and easy to open. Switching from one to the other often is when it gets confusing :P

I like tip down on thumbstud openers and tip up on flippers and assisted openers. To each their own.

... or :thumbdn:

:p

Tip up. Works best for me, and many of the knives I have are configured that way out-of-the-box. I just haven't seen a reason to change.

Tip up. I like having the knife in perfect position when I pull it out of my pocket. Tip down feels soooo weird to me.

Up or down doesn't matter I just have to remember which knife I have clipped in my pocket. And which pocket she is in..
