Tip Down, Thumb stud, Carbon fiber

Any suggestions for an EDC that is tip down w/thumb stud and carbon fiber chassis? I do not want a flipper or alternate method of opening (ie, Spydie hole). Lock mechanism doesn't really matter but lockback wouldn't appeal. 3-4" blade of useful shape. Price up to $300ish. Very hard to search for tip orientation on vendor sites, I really wish they had it in their filter criteria. I see the Rat in CF but I'm looking for something a little more high end.

Thank you!

Edit: I missed that tip down part. No idea now that I see that.

Yeah Scooter tip down is the tricky bit. I didn't even specify tip down only which I would really prefer since I'm not a fan of empty screw holes but that would probably be far too limiting.

The Dozier is intriguing, but over budget - not sure I want to go $400+. I guess because they are (semi?) custom I've seen some in TU and TD clip configurations.

If you're willing to roll the dice on a Pakistani made knife, Buck-N-Bear has one of their higher end knives; simple design, but "looks" okay...

Only Aus8 but Made in Italy, so likely made by the viper or lionsteel factory I'm guessing? Front flipper tab isn't in the way aesthetically like a regular flipper tab. Price isn't too bad.

Or a Kershaw Leek in C.F. if you can deal with assisted and compromise an added flipper tab? (Or grind it off).

WAY out of your price range is the Marfione Socom elite.

Otherwise a C.F. Ontario Rat or ESEE Avispa, both with a d2 blade are your best bet I can think of.

Or, get a tip down knife you like and have custom CF scales made, or any tip up CF knife you like and tap new holes for tip down carry?

What this thread has made me realize is that for most of the knives I own (quite a few) I don't know which way they carry off the top of my head. I just carry them willy-nilly without a thought to the direction.

You are correct. The dozier is custom 100% done manually. He is working on a full titanium version of the mini workhorse to my specs at the moment. Amazing guy. Had the best conversation with him on the phone. He has a great crew working under him as well. There is one for sale on the forum now for 350 but it is tip up.

Yeah I saw that one Bella, TU is a no-go for me and it's really more than I'm looking to spend. I hadn't bought a new knife in like 15yrs until recently and the landscape is way different - everything is a TU flipper now.

LOL! Yep, this describes me as well... throw the knife in the pocket all haphazard and ambivalent like.

Couldn't tell you up or down on most of my carries... couldn't say I care.

Both sides carbon fiber? (Would carbon fiber/ti be acceptable). Does blade finish matter? (Satin, stonewash, black, etc)

The joy of today is that one can get just about anything...if one wants it badly enough. I don't particularly care for tip down carry (though it's not a deal killer if I really like the knife), so I don't have pictures to show; but I've purchased custom scales for a number of knives. Carbon fiber, with tip down only carry? No problem... but it might cost you 1/3 - 3/4 of your current budget, depending on the knife and scale maker.
Watch the Exchange for knives that you like and, while you're waiting, look over some custom scales.
As an example - you could watch for a lightly used Benchmade Griptilian, and order a set of Cuscadi or DOAT scales. (If you're set on the knife, you can even order the scales while you're waiting - I'm sure I'm not the only one that's done that)

Edited to add: now that I'm thinking about it, that was probably a poor example... i don't think the axis lock allows for tip down carry.

I hear you. I cant deal with flippers . I tried a few and they work just fine. But im a thumb stud or thumb hole kind of guy.

I’m going to recommend a few if you can do CF on just one side. They’re both flippers so you might want to grind the flipper tab off.
1. Kershaw Knockout and then get a CF scale made for it.

2. ZT 0566CF - You might want to handle first as the studs are meant to be blade stops. Looks like it could work though.

The barreta I found out is actually a rebranded Maserin Starlight I found out. The maserin you may even find for a few $ less.

Another option is to simply add a quik-clip to a Boker Plus Exskeliber with a carbon fiber handle. 3.5" s35v blade.

Or look for Browning black label cf knives.
131bl sliver
133bl turning point
143bl checkmate
164bl associate
All are tip down with carbon fiber options

Bastions makes an all carbon fiber tip down knife, with a 3k carbon fiber blade, not sure how you feel about that.

Boker anti-grav is a carbon fiber tip down with a ceramic blade

Lionsteel mini 8200 is only 2.25" blade

I would prefer all carbon for this particular knife, blade finish I don't care about too much though. Blade should be steel though, preferably something a bit up from basic steel (D2, 154CM, etc level or above) and with an all-around blade profile. So no Benchmade Spikes or ZTs with weird techno shapes.

Thanks for the suggestions guys I really appreciate it, so far the Boker Plus seems closest to what I'm looking for but I would like something a bit stouter perhaps. Definitely on the radar at the least. Too bad the Anti-Grav is a ceramic blade or that would also be on the "to consider" list. Did not like the Brownings, and I think they are low end? Looking for something a bit nicer. Ditto the Maserin/Barretta, plus they were a bit on the pointy side. I'm looking for something closer to the ZT posted, my current favorite knife I own is a Protech CQC7a.
