A tool can become uncomfortable when laid flat at the bottom of a pants pocket. To keep the tool in the vertical position, I use a magnet tied to paracord looped around my belt.
That seems to be a magnet with a special shape; where might one get them? Have you experienced any problem due to interference of the magnet on wallet items (e.g., credit/debit cards)?
I used one half of a KeyBar aluminum MagNut which I bought on Amazon and didn't need. I could have simply glued or tied the paracord to an inexpensive rare earth (neodymium) magnet instead. I have donut-shaped magnets which could be employed, too. Rare earth magnets are amazingly strong and have no problem holding up a steel tool in the pocket.
My wallet is in a different pocket so possible magnetic effects on credit cards is not an issue.

Great idea mate, I have knipex 140 pliers that I have every day at work and they wore out pockets. i now carry mine in a simple canvas sheath, nothing fancy because it gets used.
I might try out your idea and see how it goes
