Today I spent an hour or so doing a job by hand that should have taken me no more than 10 min. by grinder to do, and I'm not quite done yet. So, to avoid this problem. By the way, this works with flat handle materials being put on a slab handled knife:

AFTER your epoxy has set, DON't grind the sides of the handle scales, grind the ends. I don't know the terms for this part yet, but the parts where the tang shows. I did it in the reverse order, and so of course my handle wouldn't sit flat on my bench rest, and I couldn't get the rough scratches out of the tang evenly. I had to clamp up my knife, grab a piee of micarta as a sanding block, and sand with 220 grit papert to fix the problem.

So, endure you get your steps dine IN THE RIGHT ORDER!
