Looks like MSC has a sale on a 115-piece drill set. For those of you struggling to get your shops in order, trust me - this is a good way to get the drill sizes you need. This drill set is in the flyer I just got, but I suppose its on their site too. The order# is: EU1186709, and the price is $39.95. The bits are probably chinese, and are surface-treated HSS. I bought a kit like this for one of the guys at work, and he says the bits aren't too bad if you just realize they are only HSS. He also says they are sharp as the Dickens and you have to be careful not to cut yourself taking them out of the container. I guess that's good, huh?

Now here's the REAL tip of the day:

When you dull/break/whatever a bit, buy new replacements in cobalt or whatever you want. I buy all my bits by the unopened pack, so I get a good price break. MSC and McMaster-Carr does this. So there you go! A soft, easy way to get all the bits you need, and if like me, you only use a few bits all of the time, and rarely use the odd-sized bits, then this is a great way to go. Have you seen the prices of some of those drill sets? I paid just under $500 for the one I have at the house, and I bet I only use maybe 8-10 different sizes all the time. Still, its the only insurance that you'll have what you need when you need it, right?

Hope this helps some of you, and let me know how you llike them!
