I dropped my MOD Mark V last nite on a tile floor and ended up rolling like a micrometere of a tip on it. A-2 Steel + 3 feet drop = rolled edge? is that a correct possibility? oh, also, what sharpener should I use to fix it?

Not just a possiblity. If it was ceramic tile, it's pretty much a certainty. If it's just rolled, a sharpener probably isn't what you need. Try steeling it on a steel if you have one, or any smooth hard piece of metal to force the misaligned part of the edge back into place-you could try anything from the shaft of a nut driver to the spine of another knife.

Oh man that sucks, I did the same thing a few days ago. It was a linoleum floor though, guess there is a cement under it... I was just sitting on the toilet flipping and oops! I'm happy it hit the floor though, an inch to the right and my bare foot would have got it but probably would have saved the tip, oh well. I just scrapped it against the counter to straighten the tip then sharpened it, unfortunatly the tip isn't very pointy anymore :(

Come to think of it I also did this to a Leek a couple weeks ago, dropped it on the carpet, went right through and once again I guess there is a cement under there... I ended up just sharpening it without trying to fix the tip and it's really round now, damn tips.

It doesn't take much to break those fine tips. Even just dropping the knife from a small distance unto a wooden surface could break the very very tip off causing it to seem like it no longer has a nice pointy tip. You might even notice some bending or deformation which can be fixed with a steel, but in order to get it nice and pointy again you will need to grind in a new tip with a coarse stone.

It it was a stainless steel, it almost certainly would have broken off and not rolled (and if it did roll, it'd almost certainly break when you bent it back). A2 is some tough stuff.

It might take a few sessions of counselling to get that image out of my head! :)

A few inches in another direction, and it wouldn't be the tip of the knife you'd be worried about losing!

I'll stick with the comics for my entertainment on the throne. :D
