So the recent post about the tip broken off of the cqc-15 got me thinking, which emerson knife has the strongest tip strength?
so i figured i would ask all you experts.

I've been pretty hard on my CQC-7; some tasks which I have previously broken the tips off of other well-known brands. That was actually one of the reasons I landed on Emerson and the CQC-7 -- tip strength. I think that 15 just had some bad luck in the treat.

After all, nothing is perfect...Emerson is simply next in line ;)

I would guess a CQC-11 or a Roadhouse.

i have very little knowledge on the topic so im not saying your wrong but im curious what made you pick those 2 knives?

i have heard somewhere before that tanto blades had stronger tips, i dont remember where and i have no idea if it was credible. so what made you pick the tanto?

Though this is not always the case, the tanto holds a stronger tip because of the profile. Usually the entire thickness of the blade can be held until the second sweep of the blade, keeping the strength, even with the swedge.

Why I decided to pick the tanto?? That very reason. I'll take chips in my edge, some scratches, and ugly scales...but what I can stand is a broken tip on a $100+ knife; something I have experienced in the past, and I'm simply not a fan. You almost feel defeated. Ha ha.

that makes sense, i under stand what you getting at.

so could someone do me a huge favor and take a picture comparing the cqc 7, the cqc 15, and the roadhouse? im looking for a picture of the tips looking down onto the spine of the blades.

There's a pic that may take a while. My suggestion?? Just go by all three, cry once, and enjoy for the rest of your life.

well, 2 months ago my mini 15 fell on the ciramic floor at work and a piece of the tip broke:grumpy:

the 7 is way better!!!! because of the real tanto...the 15 as a v-gring

hahaha you are a funny man. im a college student, its going to take me several months to save up for just one. buying all 3 isnt going to happen till i graduate and get a real job. lol

Ha ha. Fair enough. They're all great options, so it comes to personal preferences. I love my 7, enjoy the 15, and lust after the Roadhouse. The Roadhouse is a work of art, but it's a little large to justify carrying at times. I like in the Great White North, and we're pretty much screwed in the 'self-defense' catagory, so if it doesn't look like a tool, it's a weapon.

You must have a preference in there somewhere, so take the plunge. Either way, you won't regret it...until you're selling your body on campus to buy the next ;)
