I just tried this the other day on my sickle and it worked great. On hawks and axes I like to get a really tight fit but, I still like to get some epoxy in there just to seal things up but, dripping epoxy into narrow gaps can be a real pain and very slow process. Instead I took some epoxy and put it on one edge/side of the eye/shaft joint and with my air compressor, lightly blew air on one side. This forced the epoxy down into the gap comletely filling it without any mess. Make sure you don't cover the whole thing, you want the air to be able to escape and prevent air pockets. I hope this made sense and helps out.
