Has anyone here modified their Cuda Maxx for tip up carry, and used the cross guard for a "wave?" I've heard of such, but I've also heard that such a mod can lead to a partial pocket opening, and a nasty gouge to the user's hand.

Given that, how consistently successful is the wave opening? Eric at On Scene Tactical has a new sheath, designed for waved Spydercos. I wonder if that same sheath might be used to keep a tip up Cuda Maxx closed, while also better ensuring that the wave opening works.

I have mine modified for tip up carry, and it works quite well. The spine of the blade is carried against the rear of the pocket, so it cannot open accidentally in the pocket.

I have a modified maxx like this.

I never opened in my pocket, it will only if you try to take it off your pocket without opening it (but why would you do that :P)

Ok, it COULD happen if the pivot is not tight enough, but since you can wave your maxx, why wouldn't your pivot be tight?

I love my maxx :)
