Hi guys, I'm looking to convert my Spyderco Military to tip-up. Anyone ever done it or had it done? I also posted in the exchange to have it done but no hits. Anyone know somebody who can do it? (I apologize if this breaks any forum rules by asking)... Just looking for input. Thanks!

Somebody here did it, IIRC they just drilled and tapped holes in the G10. This doesn't seem very reliable to me so I wouldn't try it, but then I don't want to try tip up carry either.

There have been other discussions here about converting to tip up carry. Someone talked about finding small tapped inserts that could be glued into holes in the G10. This seems more promising but also a bit tedious. The problem with making the Military tip-up is that the liners don't extend all the way to the end of the knife handle. My own theory for making a Military tip-up is to get a small piece of metal the same thickness as the liners and add it into the inside of the end of the scale, then drill and tap through this and attach the clip to it.

I bought mine with the tip up conversion already done.

For me, it really makes it more enjoyable\comfortable to carry.

STR is your man to do the job..

You could always buy adrill bit, a tap and screws. Give it a try on a cheep knife first and then go for it on your milli.
