One thing I wish Spyderco would do is have their knives come tip up carry set up from the factory.I believe most users prefer it that way so why make them switch it around?Maybe I'm wrong, what's you're thought?

only knife i carry tip up is my zt301 because when i pull it out my index finger is perfect length to hit the flipper as soon as its out and my emerson A100, because tip up is how it comes

Knives like the Mili and Para are biased to open towards the heavier hump of the blade where the SpyderHole is. As such, configuring it that way from the beggingin meant blades opening up in the pocket - not so nice. With tip down, you don't have that problem. Now, I think the new Para2 has some design features that help to hold the blade closed - however I have never had a problem transitioning from tip up or tip down.

With tip up carry, the spine of the blade is pressed against the seam of your pocket (Unless you carry your knife clipped in strange positions) so it can't open accidently. Tip down, the blade is free to swing open in your pocket.

In the case of the new Para2 with that sweet large lanyard hole and a discrete lanyard it just screams out Tip Up.Maybe I'm just lucky but I've never had a Spyder bite me in my pocket.

Tip down all the way.
Unless I'm carrying the knife in my left pocket. When set for left hand carry I usually prefer the feel of the clip on the bottom of the handle. Right hand carry is always tip down.

I would actually rather that the clip not be attached, once you tighten the screws they flatten the texturing underneath. If you ever want to switch positions then you have to look at the leftover footprint.

Tip down for me.When Spyderco first came out with the Police model,I carried it as my edc for a few years,it was tip down. When it comes to knives with pocket clips,it's what I got used to first.I can go tip up though,so it's not a deal breaker for me.

I prefer tip down having had a tip up lahar open in my pocket and cut me -- I also like the spyderdrop -- so I hope they don't change anything :)

I say everyone should try both and see which they prefer. There are benefits to both methods of carry. :)

There is absolutely no reason at all why a decent folder shouldn't have four-point carry other than sheer laziness on the part of the designer and/or maker.

Unless you carry it in your back pocket! :)

I like tip up because you are already holding the knife in your hand the way its "supposed" to be.

Faster tacticool deployment of my self defense tool. LOL

(I am the LEAST tactical guy on the planet but thats kind of fun to type).:p

Thats how I see it too... To each their own. I like the option.

Tip up for me. I like my Lanyards! I wish makers would just ship the darn knives without the clip attatched, and leave it up to the customer to put it on. Like someone above said, it leaves a "footprint" when you switch them.

Tip up or down for me depends on the knife, mostly on how long the knife is. I find that pulling out longer knives like the military, endura, chinook, etc. puts my thumb immediately in position on the thumbhole. If I carry a longer knife tip up, I find that I when the knife is out, that I will have to "crawl" my grip upward to get my thumb in position over the thumbhole.

For shorter knives like the persistence I can work with tip up.

I think that reducing the weight by installing less of a liner is a reason to not offer a tip down option. Also, by only allowing one carry option it eliminates extra holes.

My Resilience arrived with the clip tip down - and it doesn't use Torx screws, it uses something else, I think Allen screws? Why the different screws??
So not only doesn't it come tip up, it doesn't come with the most common screws either!

I generally opt for tip up, deployment is fine either way, I just prefer the clip to be on the back end of the knife when its open
