Tip-up vs tip-down carry...pros and cons

I seem to have picked up that some folk prefer tip-up and some folk prefer tip-down for the clip. It is not something that I have been conscious about and would like to know what the pros and cons are of both systems. Incidentally my CRKT Ryan 7 is tip-down and it works just fine for me. I would have preferred it if the clip was higher on the scale for the knife to sit lower in the pocket.

ps...For the record I prefer tip-down for no other reason than I have an easier time with a tip-down knife.
 
Exactly.

This issue has been debated and discussed at great lengths in the past, in fact only in the last few weeks.

I doubt that there have been any new developments or discoveries in this area that might change peoples' opinions on the matter.
